FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
The Friends of Bushnell-Sage Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to encourage and promote the enrichment and use of Bushnell-Sage Library and to foster support for the Library in the community. Funds they raise support many library programs, including:
- Museum passes for area museums
- Annual Local Author’s Day
- Author talks
- Summer reading program for children
- Bushnell-Sage Art Wall
We are able to carry out our mission through active membership. Meetings are generally held on the second Friday of each month at 9 AM in the Library.

BOOK DONATION POLICY FOR THE COLLECTION OR BOOK SALE
The Bushnell-Sage Library welcomes donations of books, DVDs and books and music on CDs. Items donated that are not needed for the circulating collections are given to the Friends of the Bushnell-Sage Library for the annual book sale. Sale proceeds support many of the library’s programs.
Donations are accepted on Fridays from 10 to noon, or by appointment. Donors are asked not to bring their gifts to the library at other times. This change is so that donors may receive proper appreciation and credit for their donations, and also so that staff can be sure that the donations meet the appropriate guidelines.
The library can no longer accept the following items: Videotapes, cassette tapes, textbooks, encyclopedias, sets of reference books, Time-Life series, National Geographics, condensed books, or other printed materials not in book form.
Also precluded are items that are damp, musty, moldy, mildewed or which contain debris or indications of various types of infestations. Unfortunately, all too often donations have been received with the above afflictions. Items donated must be in good and usable condition.
Donors are asked to remain at the library while their donation is reviewed and counted. Donors will be asked to fill out a form indicating their address and size of donation so that they may receive an appropriate thank-you and confirmation for an income tax credit.
